This is Convict Lake. It's the first natural lake you reach as you drive up highway 395, and it's a very pretty spot. Fishing is usually pretty good, but except for a trail around the lake, there isn't much in the way of easy day hikes available there.

There's a pretty big campground there, but it's generally full, so we usually just stop there on the way north or south. We have lunch and take a short walk, then continue on.
