Getting from Tucson Airport to the conference

1. Arizona Stagecoach (Shuttle Service)

Arizona Stagecoach Shuttle (www.azstagecoach.com) runs vans from the airport to various Tucson hotels, as well as the U. of A. campus. As of December 2001, their rates were $9 to the U. of A. campus, or $15 to hotels in the area.

2. Sun Tran (Public Bus)

Sun Tran (www.suntran.com), Tucson's public bus service, has several routes servicing the immediate University area. It is a convenient and inexpensive way to get around town if you don't have a car.

Bus line number 11 leaves from Tucson International Airport every half hour or so (weekdays), heading north into central Tucson on Alvernon Way. Get a transfer, and then get off at the Speedway stop and catch the number 4 bus (runs every 10 minutes or so) westbound two miles to Campbell Ave. Fare, including the transfer, is only one dollar.

(Returning to the airport is a bit trickier, since the buses don't run as often on weekends and only half the #11 buses actually go to the airport, roughly every hour and a half. Check a schedule once you're in town.)

3. Driving

From Tucson International Airport

The airport exit is northbound on Tucson Blvd. Turn left at Valencia Road, then right (north) on Campbell Ave. Follow this road north for about 12 miles (and through a midway name change to Kino Parkway). After you cross 6th Street you will see the UA on your left, another half mile will bring you to the Four Points Sheraton on your right.

From eastbound or westbound Interstate 10

Exit I-10 at exit 257 - The University of Arizona/Speedway Blvd. exit. This will put you on Speedway Blvd. Head east on Speedway Blvd. Continue east on Speedway Blvd. to the intersection of Park Avenue. The University of Arizona will be on both the north and south sides of Speedway Blvd.

Parking at the University of Arizona

The most convenient parking for the conference is at the Second Street Garage. Information is available at this link: http://parking.arizona.edu/maps/visitor/

If you are flying in to Phoenix...

Arizona Shuttle (www.arizonashuttle.com) is a service originating at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport which runs to several destinations in Tucson including a stop right across the street from Arizona Stadium. The air-conditioned vans depart every hour on the hour. The 120-mile trip takes about 2 hours. It costs $24 for a one-way trip, $43 for a round trip ticket. Make reservations using the link above.
