| Bluefin tuna, 35 pounds, taken aboard the Sun Rise from
San Diego. We got into a wide-open bite that day and got our limits of
tuna up to 38 pounds. It’s the only time I’ve seen bluefin bite
like that, though that kind of bite isn’t rare with yellowfin or
albacore. |

An 80 pound bluefin tuna (the biggest of four
I caught that day) taken from the Sun Rise out of San Diego
in 1993. While most of my buddies have 100 pounders to their credit, this
is my biggest to date. |
