There are dozens of species of rockfish in the waters off California. Here are three small ones we caught back in about 1975: a blue rockfish, a bocaccio, and a corsair. |
This is a small vermilion rockfish. When taken in clean
water far from shore, the colors of these fish really are this bright. |
Here are a couple bigger Vermilion Rockfish (locally called
red snapper), taken out of Morro Bay in the early 1990s. |
This is a good sized Yelloweye Rockfish taken out of Morro
Bay a few years back. When posing for the picture, my friend Jim stuck
his face in front of the fish. So I stuck the fish in front of his face. |
